Radboud University

I am a PhD student at the Donders Center for Cognition. I hold a Bachelor degree in Psychological Sciences obtained from the Faculdade de Psicologia (Universidade de Lisboa), and a Masters degree in Cognitive Science obtained from the Universidade de Lisboa.

My PhD project is part of the Big Question 2 of the Language in Interaction Consortium, where I will assess the role of subcortical structures in language. Namely, I will investigate how the Basal Ganglia contributes to the production of regular vs. irregular word forms. I will do this using behavioural and neuroimaging (fMRI) measures on healthy participants. Furthermore, I will also evaluate language production on a population of Parkisons Disease (PD) patients being treated with Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) electrodes. This clinical population will provide a crucial insight to the interaction between subcortical and neocortical structures in language production.
